Football stadia in Germany

Hey everybody!
Today, I want to show you all football stadia I've visited yet.

Weserstadion in Bremen

I've visited the traditional stadium from SV Werder Bremen for matches against Schalke 04, FC Augsburg and SC Freiburg. It has kept his traditional name and is equipped with more than 42.000 seats.

ESPRIT arena in Düsseldorf

This stadium is also an arena for different events. Fortuna Düsseldorf welcomes its opponents for football matches, but there are also e.g. music events, concerts or other sports events. More than 54.600 spectators can visit the arena for such an event.

I

BORUSSIA-PARK in Mönchengladbach

There, I've watched a match between Borussia Mönchengladbach and Werder Bremen two years ago.
It is an impressive stadium and is similar to the Weserstadion. It has a capacity about nearly 60.000 seats.

SIGNAL IDUNA PARK in Dortmund

This is the stadium from Borussia Dortmund and it is breathtaking when you visit it for the first time. With more than 80.600 seats it is the biggest football stadium in Germany.

Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen

As the ESPRIT arena it does not look like a typical stadium but like a modern arena. Different music and sports events take place there. It is also the stadium from Schalke 04 with more than 61.600 seats.

MAGE SOLAR Stadion in Freiburg

It is a typical and small stadium in the south of Germany with 24.000 seats, where the SC Freiburg stages his football matches. Moreover, the MAGE SOLAR Stadion was the first stadium I've ever visited.

Furthermore, I've been at the Olympiastadion in Berlin and at the rewirpowerSTADION in Bochum, which is a traditional football stadium with 29.299 seats. You're very close to the pitch and you have a good overview of the match. It is the home ground from VfL Bochum.

Which stadia have you visited already and where do you still want to go?

How a girl became a football fan

Hello everybody!
There is one main question I've heard over and over again since I watch football: "How did you become a football fan?" Well, I'd like to give you an answer, because it is a good question for someone like me. And I often thought about it, because I have no parents or brothers or sisters who love football. So, I wasn't used to it and to be honest I wasn't interested in football for years. Though I have to say that I lived in a small village without any women's football team and girls or women had nothing to do with football (which is very sad).

Fortunately, in 2006, the World Cup took place in Germany and everybody was very enthusiastic about football. Me, too. I've watched the matches with a friend from school and we had a lot of fun.

A few months later, there was a UEFA Champions League match between Werder Bremen and FC Chelsea in television and I recognized a few football players from the national team like Tim Borowski, Torsten Frings and Miroslav Klose.

I started to watch all kind of international matches until there was another World Cup in South Africa in 2010.
I can't tell you, why, but when the championship was over, I decided to watch German premier league. I became really interested in football. As one of my cousins was a supporter from Werder Bremen, I remembered my sympathy for that team. Well, the more I got my teeth into it, the more I liked that club and that's why I am also a supporter from Werder Bremen.
During the following months, I also became fan from Borussia Dortmund and started to play football myself.

It isn't an extraordinary story, but that's how I became a football fan. Some people may think, that it is impossible to be fan from two different teams, but I don't share this opinion. I support both clubs the same way and with the same intensity.

What happened on Saturday...

Hello everybody!
As a supporter from Borussia Dortmund, I'd like to give you an insight in the club's current situation. As you might have seen, on Saturday Borussia Dortmund played against Bayern München, which was a huge event for us fans and for the German premier league, too. The football match was shown in nearly every country in the world and newspapers called it a "meeting between giants" or the "German El Clásico". The term "El Clásico" normally descibes the clash between the two Spanish football teams Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, who are dominating the Spanish football league.

Well, I've to tell you that Borussia Dortmund had lost three regular players within two weeks - all three were defenders. As a consequence, we had to form a nearly complete new defence. I'd like to welcome defender Manuel Friedrich, who just signed a contract with Borussia Dortmund.
At this point, the team did a really good job, though we lost the match. What I disliked during watching the match, was the way the commentator always praised Bayern München. At the end, he said that no one needs to be sad, including the soccer players. Well, I guess he didn't really get our point of view...

A fight and a really good match

Yesterday, I visited the football match between Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen, which was the third time in a row. But this time, me and my friends had tickets for the supporter's block from the away team. So, everything was as common as different. Well, you have to know that we live in Gelsenkirchen for studying, so Schalke is always around us - which can be very annoying.

We arrived at the stadium at 12.30 pm and went to the entrance for the opposing supporters. It was kind of creepy, because we only met three other green-white fans. We greeted them and waited... Bit by bit, all the other fans arrived, which created a team spirit you have to experience firsthand.

As we were allowed to enter the stadium, we had to walk through a tunnel. I felt like an outlaw, because everything was kind of small and narrow and there wasn't much space for that many people. We weren't allowed to leave our block, which is normal when you're away, but still strange when you witness that only for the second time. Nevertheless, we were in a good mood, though the atmosphere was a little bit tense.

Just before the match started, there was a fight in our block, which wasn't good at all. One guy right behind us wore a scarf from Borussia Dortmund and was asked by another fan to take it off. Well, he didn't and that was when the fight started...More and more people and the security joined it and suddenly one angry guy was right in front of me. I shouted at him that he should stop it, because I was not strong enough to do anything. Fortunately, he left and I was glad when the whole fight was over. The match started and we could support our team, which is why I love to be in a stadium.

Well, our team lost the match, though they played really good and had the chance to win or at least to get one point.  As I have visited the last four matches against Schalke, I can tell you that this one was the best one. I'm sure we will win next time!
